Collection: Daruma Sashiko Cottons

Daruma Sashiko threads are manufactured in Japan and are premium 100% cotton threads specially twisted for Japanesse sashiko, embroidery and visible mending.

They feature a strong matte finish that resists fraying and does not divide, making them perfect for both fine, detailed patterns and bold decorative stitching.

Two types:

  • Daruma 20/4 - a 4-ply twisted thread specifically twisted for Sashiko embroidery and boro mending. Comparable to a size 12 Perle cotton thread. Wound flat on a cardboard card, 40 metres in length. Used mainly for Sashiko stitching, decorative running stitches, mending and Boro projects.
  • Daruma #30 - a continuous, single strand cotton thread that is much thinner than Sashiko thread which is designed for smooth passage through multiple layers of fabric. 100 metres in length wound flat on a cardboard card. Used mainly for general hand sewing, dressmaking, quilt piecing, hemming and light repairs.
